Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 500 g ground pork
  • 250 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 125 ml beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

For the crust:

  • 2 ready-made pie crusts (about 230-250 g each)
  • 1 egg (for brushing)

Typical side:

  • Ketchup or fruit chutney
  • Simple green salad

Instructions

  1. In a large pan over medium heat, cook ground pork and beef until browned.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook for 5 minutes until soft.
  3. Add garlic, thyme, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  4. Pour in beef broth and simmer for 10-15 minutes until most of the liquid evaporates. The mixture should be moist but not wet.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. Preheat oven to 190°C.
  7. Place one pie crust into a round pie dish.
  8. Fill evenly with the meat mixture and press gently to level the surface.
  9. Cover with the second crust. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  10. Cut small slits on top to allow steam to escape.
  11. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  12. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Let rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
