
The Cuban sandwich is one of the most famous street foods connected to Cuba. It became popular among Cuban workers and later spread to Havana and Miami. It combines roast pork, ham, cheese and pickles pressed inside crispy bread. In Cuba, it is simple and filling, not overloaded.

Ingredients
- 2 Cuban-style bread rolls (or soft white baguette)
- 200 g roast pork, sliced
- 4 slices ham
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4–6 pickle slices
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Slice bread lengthwise without cutting fully through.
- Spread mustard on both inside halves.
- Layer roast pork, ham, cheese and pickles evenly.
- Close sandwich and press gently.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and melt butter.
- Place sandwich in pan and press down with a spatula.
- Cook about 3–4 minutes per side until bread is crispy and cheese melted.
- Slice diagonally and serve hot.
