These crispy potato pancakes are very common in Lithuanian homes. They are made from grated potatoes and fried until golden. They are usually served with sour cream.

Ingredients

  • 800 g potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • ½ onion, grated
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying

For serving:

  • Sour cream

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate potatoes finely.
  2. Squeeze out excess liquid.
  3. Mix with egg, flour, onion, salt and pepper.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Spoon mixture into small pancakes.
  6. Fry 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve immediately with sour cream.
