Ingredients

  • 200 g black-eyed peas (canned or soaked and peeled)
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 100 ml water (as needed)
  • oil for frying

Typical side:

  • spicy tomato sauce
  • or chili sauce

Instructions

  1. Blend black-eyed peas, onion, garlic and salt into a thick batter.
  2. Add a little water if needed, but keep the mixture thick.
  3. Heat oil in a pan or deep fryer.
  4. Drop small spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
  5. Fry until golden and crispy on all sides.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towel.
  7. Serve warm with sauce.
